Research Outline
Image Based Rendering (IBR) is a state-of-the-art approach to render data from a set of input images. These algorithms bypass complex traditional geometric modeling methods to create photorealistic data at interactive rates. One of the main challenges in IBR is data compression and transmission. In a typical setup, such as a Light Field, hundreds of cameras may be used to capture a scene, vastly increasing the amount of information. Our work is, therefore, based on developing a coding algorithm for multiview images. This work is supported by Deutsche Telekom Laboratories.
