Having attended Bunyawat Wittayalai School Lampang for the high school, he was then admitted to Chulalongkorn University , the first and one of the top universities in Thailand, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree of Engineering in 2002. He carried on a senior project at the Department of Electrical Engineering focusing on online bilingual (English-Thai) character recognition and had a published IEEE conference paper in relevant topic .

After finish the degree, Thirapiroon joined Video Technology Research Group, Digital Signal Processing Laboratory, Chulalongkorn University during his Master’s studies. His program curriculum focused on digital video processing, digital image processing, multimedia communication and other courses in signal processing. With guidance of his research advisors Asst. Prof. Dr. Supavadee Aramvith and Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanarat Chalidabhongse , Thirapiroon had worked as a research assistant from 2002 -2005 and was an important member in research projects of the group including the development of MPEG-4 video conference system and adaptive background subtraction for video surveillance. He graduated his M.Eng with distinction and several papers published in IEEE and ACM.

Thirapiroon started his engineering career at MJTA, the joint venture of a renowned design firm Murphy Jahn Architecture, on a grand project designing “Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Thailand” as a Communication Engineer in 2005. Several months later, he joined Aeronautical Radio of Thailand, Ltd. (AEROTHAI), the national air traffic control enterprise, and had been an integral part in the communication project at a new Suvarnabhumi Air Traffic Control Complex. He had been working at AEROTHAI until 2009 before winning the Royal Thai Government scholarship with the demand and the support of the Office of National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC), Thailand.

Thirapiroon is currently pursuing a PhD at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Imperial College London in the research group of his supervisor Dr. Pier Luigi Dragotti. He is a member in Communication and Signal Processing Research Group and also a student researcher in an European collaborative research project “REVerse engineering of audio-Visual content Data” or REWIND from 2011-2013. The project has been granted by European Research Commission to collaborative consortium between Imperial College and leading universities and research institutes in Europe including Politecnico Di Milano, Consorzio Nazionale Interuniversitario Per Le Telecomunicazioni, Universidad De Vigo, and Fraunhofer Institute from Italy, Spain, and Germany respectively. His research interests include Image Forensics, Sparse Sampling Theory, Sparse Representation, Wavelet Theory and Multi-resolution Analysis, Computer Vision, and other relevant topics in signal processing.

Thirapiroon has been working as a Graduate Teaching Assistance (GTA) for undergraduate classes from 2010-2013.
