In partnership with Dstl, this project aims to develop novel techniques for underwater object detection and localisation. By bringing together areas of expertise ranging from physics and laser systems to all aspects of advanced signal processing, the team plans to approach the challenge in a comprehensive way by addressing the whole range of highly inter-related aspects of signal processing from the generation of scanning signals, signal waveform design and propagation through seawater as well as the collection of the reflected signals and the processing techniques for the detection and localization of underwater objects from the received signals.
