Communications and Signal Processing
The revolution in communications and digital media in the recent decades is based on the achievements of electrical and electronic engineers, who managed to solve major problems in signal transmission, propagation and processing. The Communications and Signal Processing Group of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of Imperial College London consists of 10 academics, about 20 post-doctoral researchers and about 50 PhD students, all working on arious aspects of communication theory, signal and image processing, and computer vision. From basic methodology to practical applications in healthcare, wellbeing, remote sensing and the environment, the Group is at the forefront of research in these subjects. The Group has excellent state of the art facilities for data capture and processing, from a variety of sensors. It hosts the Smart Environment Lab (SEL) which is a Faculty facility that allows research in conjunction with optical, infrared, audio, seismic, pressure, environmental and psychophysical data, captured by dozens of cameras and state of the art haptic, body, audio, eyetracking and environmental conditions sensors. The Group also runs a very successful
MSc course in Communications and Signal Processing.
